Privacy policy
This policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit cavomaleas.com or contact Cavomaleas Shipping Agency. It is written to reflect how this website actually works, which is deliberately simple.
Who we are
Cavomaleas Shipping Agency, a shipping agency established in 2005, with offices at Odissea Androutsou 24, Neapoli Voion, Lakonia 230 53, and Vasilissis Olgas 34A, Kalamata 241 33, Greece. Our website address is https://cavomaleas.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.
What this website collects
This site is a set of static pages. It has no contact form, no comment section, no user accounts and no login. It does not ask you for any information and there is nothing on it for you to submit. It does, however, use Google Analytics — see “Cookies and analytics” below.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser's user agent string. These are generated automatically by the act of loading a web page and are used for security and to keep the site running. We do not use them to identify individual visitors.
If you contact us
When you email or telephone us, we receive whatever you choose to tell us: typically your name, your company, your contact details and the details of the vessel or the call you are enquiring about. We use this only to answer you and, where it leads to a port call, to carry out our work as your agent. We do not sell it and we do not add you to any marketing list.
Correspondence relating to a port call is kept for as long as our commercial and tax obligations require, which under Greek law is generally at least five years. Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted once they are clearly no longer needed.
Cookies and analytics
When you first open the site you are asked whether you accept cookies. Until you accept, the analytics and map services described below are blocked and set nothing in your browser. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the link at the end of this section.
Consent is managed for us by Cookiebot (Usercentrics A/S, Denmark), which records your choice, the time you made it and an anonymised form of your IP address so that we can demonstrate consent was given. Cookiebot's own privacy policy is at cookiebot.com/en/privacy-policy.
If you accept, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to see how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It sets cookies in your browser that recognise you as a returning visitor and record which pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you use. These cookies typically last up to two years.
We look at this only in aggregate, to understand whether the site is useful. We do not use it to identify individual people and we do not combine it with the enquiries you send us. Google processes the data as our processor and under its own terms; Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can withdraw consent at any time using the link below, or opt out of Analytics specifically by installing Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies in your browser settings, or by using your browser's private mode. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
The embedded Google map described below is subject to the same consent and will not load until you accept.
Your current choice
Change your cookie consent — this reopens the banner so you can accept or reject.
Cookies used on this site
This list is generated automatically and stays accurate as the site changes:
Third-party services on this site
Two services are loaded from Google's servers when you open a page. In each case your IP address is transmitted to Google in order to deliver the content, and Google's own privacy policy applies to what it does with that: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Fonts — the typefaces used across the site are served from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com.
- Google Maps — the map on the contact section is an embed from Google Maps, which may also set cookies and record your interaction with the map.
- Google Analytics — as described in the previous section, loaded only after consent.
- Cookiebot — the consent banner itself, which must load on every page in order to ask you the question.
Beyond Google Analytics described above, we use no advertising trackers and no social media pixels. We do not sell or share anything with advertising networks.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only where the work requires it — for example passing crew details to the port authority, immigration, customs or a transport provider in order to arrange a crew change — or where the law obliges us to. Our hosting provider processes server logs on our behalf.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Some data we are obliged to keep for legal, tax or security reasons and cannot delete on request.
To exercise any of these, email shipagency@cavomaleas.com. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (Αρχή Προστασίας Δεδομένων Προσωπικού Χαρακτήρα), www.dpa.gr.
Changes to this policy
If the website changes — if we add a contact form, analytics or any other service that handles your data — this page will be updated before that change goes live.
